Upside Down (Anti-House Finch Feeder)

So, if you want to try to keep the House Finches away from the Goldfinch feeder, sometime the “upside down” method works and the House finches will go somewhere that the can feed without the hassle. It’s really fun watching the Goldfinches “spin” on the perches to get there seed. This was all I used when I first started offering thistle to try to attract Goldfinches.

When it’s time to fill the feeder, simply unscrew the reservoir from the base and tip the unit upside down. Pour in up to 1.75 lb. of seed, screw the base back on, flip it over, and it’s ready to go.

(Perky-Pet recommends checking this bird feeder once a week for insects or mold and cleaning it at least twice a week with a mild soap and water solution, more often in very warm climates or seasons.)
