Pelican

“A wonderful bird is the pelican. His beak can hold more than his belly can. He can hold in his beak enough food for a week. But I’ll be damned if I can see how the helican”, a wit wrote in 1910. But Pelicans don’t actually store fish in their pouch, just use it to catch them, then drain the water and swallow the fish whole. Young pelicans raid their parents’ throats for food – and it takes 150 pounds of fish to raise one pelican chick! What a mighty bird to have at your place.  A great gift for any great parents out there.
